Alcântara Port Terminal

The project refers to the development of the engineering studies of the new deepwater port, as well as its railway extension, located in São Marcos Bay, in the Brazilian state of Maranhão. The New Alcântara Terminal Port is not only intended for the export of iron ore and agricultural products, but also serve the import of fuels and fertilizers. It is estimated an investment of R$ 10 Billion Brazilian Reais, thereby making this infrastructure one of the most important Brazilian Terminals Ports.
The Economic Impact Study carried out estimates that the New Terminal represents an average increase of 20% in GDP in the State of Maranhão, creating approximately 15,000 new jobs at the beginning of its activity and until 40.000 during the next 30 years. The port has 25 meters depth, allowing the operation of 400,000 tonnes bulk cargoes, used for the iron ore transportation. Capsize ships are also predicted in the future for the agricultural grain’s transportation. The retro Onshore area covers 1,100 hectares, which is a requirement for Terminals where several products are handled, including ore, agricultural grains, fertilizers and fuels.

Services provided:

- Technical feasibility studies, which allowed the approval of the Port and its railway infrastructure construction and operation by the federal government;

- The offshore and onshore engineering works;

- 220 km cargo railway, which is a requirement to obtain the environmental licencing.
